World's Leading Feminist SF Convention
Posting Access:
All Members
Wiscon 38 will be held May 23-26, 2014, and the Guests of Honor will be Hiromi Goto and N.K. Jemisin.

Posts and comments are unmoderated, but membership is. Only members may post and comment.

Hopefully, the discussion will be pretty free-ranging. Just remember: Don't feed the trolls.

Important Note:

This is not an official community of WisCon. Very few members of the Wiscon committee are on LJ. The best way to reach the concom is by using one of the email addresses given on the Wiscon contact page. Thanks!

Other organizations of interest:

I think all of these organizations were germinated at Wiscon.

Broad Universe -- promotes and networks women writing in science fiction and fantasy. LJ Community: broaduniverse.

The Carl Brandon Society -- promotes and networks people of color writing in science fiction and fantasy.

The James Tiptree, Jr. Award -- an annual award for science fiction and fantasy that explores gender issues. Community supported.

The Interstitial Arts Foundation -- art made in the interstices between genres and categories.

Related conventions:

Think Galacticon: "a space in which leftists can discuss politics and speculative fiction in an intelligent, engaging, and fun fashion." July 26-28, 2009, Chicago, IL. Full information at the link above. think_galactic

Related LJ communities:

whileaway: To provide a forum for the discussion of feminist science-fiction and fantasy.

happy_feminists: This is a community for HAPPY FEMINISTS. We are here to express our learnings, our discoveries, our areas of interest and to help one another.

femsfaward: This is a community for "highlighting works by women eligible for SF awards."

Feminist SF is a good feminist sf resource.

This community is maintained/moderated by holyoutlaw.
